2007 - UTC Nursing Students in Jamaica
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing is sending several nursing students and faculty to Montego Bay Jamaica for Spring Break next month. These students will be providing medical screening and education to Jamaicans in one of the most impoverished areas of the island.
The students will be working with Jamaican churches and schools to provide medical screenings for a variety of conditions as well as education in hygiene to promote good health. The UTC nursing students are hoping to raise funds and gather donations of supplies to make sure everyone they see in Jamaica is provided with basic needs such as soap and toothbrushes. If you are interested in donating, contact Dr. Murihead at 423-425-4525 or Dr. Harris at 423-425-4211.
The School of Nursing hosted this same trip in 2007. The nursing students plan to send back updates and pictures through a daily blog linked to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing website.
