REPORTING: RABBIT ZIELKE
The most dangerous time of the day for many Chattanooga youth are those hours after school and before parents return from their work day. Chattanooga’s Department of Education Arts and Culture is working to engage children in after school activities that will help reduce that danger. Leadership Chattanooga joined with the department to sponsor an art contest that uses recyclable materials.
The Art of Recycling is offering children the chance to combine environmental awareness with artistic expression. They are learning how to recycle and helping to get the community involved. The contest will be judged by members of the Leadership Chattanooga class. All of the recreation center Art of Recycling entries will be on display at the Chattanooga Market to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 25, 2010.
