REPORTING: RABBIT ZIELKE
Whitfield County Emergency Services is offering training to citizen volunteers interested in becoming part of their Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T). This training is designed to train the average citizen to be prepared in the event of a disaster or emergency. Classes include training in Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Medical Operations and Basic First Air, Search and Rescue and more. Whitfield County is hoping to establish a team that will be able to help themselves and their community immediately, before emergency responders can get to the scene. C.E.R.T. is one of the community programs offered through Citizen Corps.
The classes start June 3rd and are available to Whitfield County residents only. There is limited seating so reserve your space right away. Contact Jeff Ownby or Carla Kelley with Whitfield County Emergency Services at 706-370-4911.
