Almost everyone has heard the song “Chattanooga Choo Choo” at some time in their lives. This tune by the Glenn Miller Orchestra was a hit in 1941 and became the first song to ever receive a gold record. The song also helped bring national and international attention to the scenic city landmark. On Saturday May 29th the Glenn Miller Orchestra will be returning to the Chattanooga Choo Choo for a concert. General manager Jim Bambrey intends to make this concert an annual event. Tickets are still available by calling 423-266-5000 or make your reservations online.
The Chattanooga Choo Choo terminal building celebrated 100 years in 2009. This historic landmark serves as the lobby and focal point for a hotel complex resting on more than 25 acres in the heart of Chattanooga’s south side. In addition to hotel rooms, special train car sleeper rooms, restaurants and shops, the Chattanooga Choo Choo is home to the largest operating model rail road display in the south-east.
