Cornhole @ MainX24

Reporting:  Rabbit Zielke

The game of Cornhole is a simple and addicting game that can be played by just about anyone.  The concept is simple.  Toss a bag of corn into a hole.  Actually many of the bags used in Cornhole are filled with beans, but you get the idea.  The game gained popularity in Cincinnati Ohio and has been sweeping across the country as the Cornhole craze advances.

The game is fairly similar to horseshoes but the items you toss across the 27 foot playing field probably won’t knock your opponent out.  The bags are tossed toward a slanted board with a hole in it.  You score 1 point for getting your bag to land on the board and 3 points if you bag goes through the hole in the board.  The game is over when a team reaches 21 points.  That sounds simple enough but there are strategies that involve knocking your opponent’s bag off the board or blocking the hole.

The Southside Cowart Place Neighborhood Associations will be hosting a Cornhole Tournament at 27 West Main Street on Saturday, December 4th as part of the MainX24 celebration.  The games begin at 2:00 pm and should continue until 5:00 pm.  Teams are required to pre-register if they want to compete in the tournament.  Contact  Carol Huckaby for more information.
This tournament is sanctioned by the American Cornhole Association.
