Looking For Fresh Meat

Reporting:  Rabbit Zielke

The Chattanooga Roller Girls are looking for new team members, aka fresh meat, and will be hosting the first session this Saturday in anticipation of February tryouts.  This event will give prospective roller derby stars a chance to get to know the team and learn what is expected of an athlete playing for the Chattanooga Roller Girls.

The team was accepted as an apprentice team in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association in April 2010.  Formed as a nonprofit, the Chattanooga Roller Girls require community involvement along with a strong commitment to the team.  The charity of choice for the team is the Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga.

In addition to looking for women to skate on the team, the Chattanooga Roller Girls need non skating volunteers.  There is a team of refs, officials, scorekeepers and stat recorders that are part of every roller derby bout.  These and other volunteer positions are available to men and women.  You can contact the Chattanooga Roller Girls to get involved.

The meet and greet session to begin the tryout process will be held Saturday, January 8th at Roller Coaster Skate World in Ft. Oglethorpe Georgia from 11 to 1. You must be at least 21 years of age to join.
