M.O.R.E.

Reporting:  Rabbit Zielke

The Chattanooga Hamilton County Public Library has been sharing stories and initiating a love of reading for children in day care centers for four decades.  Making Our Reading Enjoyable or M.O.R.E. began with a federal grant in 1971 as a storytelling program bringing books to daycare centers in the inner city.  The program has grown since its beginnings to include more child care centers and also works with teachers in the facilities to target stories that compliment current curriculum.   With the addition of corporate donations and additional grants, the M.O.R.E.  book collection has grown and also includes project or topic boxes that focus on a specific learning objective or skill.
