“Trees for Dade” Benefit Concert in Trenton on October 15th

The Trenton City Tree Board has donated 5,000 trees to tornado victims in Trenton, Georgia and is sponsoring an event to raise awareness in Trenton’s”Tree City”, Georgia.    Trees For Dade event is October 15th, 2011 from 11-5 pm in Trenton City Park.

Dade County, GA was greatly damaged by the recent tornadoes. The Trenton Tree City Tree Board (Tree City) has purchased 5,000 trees to give away to residents and businesses that have suffered damage during the 2011 storm season. To raise awareness for its cause, Trenton’s Tree City is hosting a free benefit in Trenton’s City Park on October 15, 2011 from 11am to 5pm. This event will feature musical acts and other performers, children’s activities, a silent auction, and food. Musicians include Norman Blake, Dalton Roberts, Bob De Young, as well as other local performers and storytellers.

The purpose of this event is not only to bring awareness and support to our cause, but we also hope to be able to capture the minds of our youth through the education tables that will be accessible during the event. We will offer tree planting demonstrations and information on forest ecology. This event is free and open to the public. The schedule for musical acts is as follows:

11:15 -11:45 David James; 12:00 -12:30 Peggy and Patty; 1:00 -1:45 The Biddles; 2:00 – 2:45 Bob De Young; 3:00 – 3:45 Dalton Roberts; 4:00 – 4:45 Norman Blake

Trees for Dade will provide an opportunity for people to sign up to receive trees, learn about replanting, and grow to appreciate our native forests. This event will host education booths, fun for kids, food vendors, and free live music. Musicians include Norman Blake, Dalton Roberts, Bob De Young, as well as other local performers and storytellers.
Norman Blake is a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist who has been involved in many projects, as well as films including “O Brother, Where Are Thou”, “Cold Mountain”, and “Walk the Line”.
