“Reaching the Light” Tells Story of Desegregation at UTC

In 1965 the University of Chattanooga, now UTC, admitted its first African American undergraduate students. Now, the communications department at UTC is finishing up production of a documentary about that period of desegregation. It’s called “Reaching the Light: The Story of Desegregation at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.” The film will debut on February 28 at 7 pm at the University Center Auditorium on the UTC campus. Mary Helen Miller recently sat down with Felicia McGhee-Hilt, one of the producers, and Betty Williams, one of the people featured in the documentary.
